CoVa Magazine – Top Lawyers Notification

Elizabeth Wood-Hanna of Wood Hanna Law earned a spot on the 2021 Top Lawyers list for Coastal Virginia Magazine and CoVa Magazine.

Her peers and several independent websites have also recognized her as one of the leading divorce and family law attorneys in the area.

To create the Top Lawyers list, DataJoe Research conducted a peer voting process. This year, DataJoe invited lawyers throughout Coastal Virginia to participate by email and cast their votes using an online ballot. Each lawyer could select up to three peers in each category. DataJoe personally reviewed and processed every ballot, checking for patterns and signs of inconsistencies.

Coastal Virginia Magazine published Mrs. Wood-Hanna’s award in its January/February 2021 issue.

Mrs. Wood-Hanna was chosen as one of the Top 15 Best Divorce Lawyers in Norfolk by Expertise.com.

Expertise.com : This website grades lawyers based on availability, qualifications, reputation, and experience.

First, the team identifies all potential providers in a community. They use public databases and customer referrals to create a thorough list of local businesses.

Next, they validate each lawyer’s qualifications and highlight providers who go above and beyond to develop their expertise. The team reviews public records and other sources to determine each provider’s reputation.

For example, Expertise.com analyzes every provider by looking at the number of professional databases reviewing them, their average review score, and how consistent those ratings are.

Finally, they select the top finalists based on a provider’s main area of expertise, the variety of services offered, and years of experience.

Ms. Wood-Hanna was featured by expertise.com because she meets all of these standards.

I came to Liz after working with four other lawyers. Some I parted ways with, others parted ways with me, and one had a family emergency where we mutually agreed to move on. Before choosing her, I interviewed ten different attorneys and firms at considerable expense because I wanted to make sure I had the right person.

Liz is the real deal. She is easy to talk to, straightforward, and does not sugarcoat things. She explains everything clearly without talking over you or being dismissive. Even though we were dealing with serious issues, I always felt comfortable and confident in her ability to handle everything.

Over the course of nearly two years, I dealt with multiple arrests, several PPOs, a PPO violation, a request to modify a protective order, foreclosure, and a range of other complex issues. Liz handled all of it and successfully worked through complications left behind by previous attorneys. All charges were dismissed, along with the PPOs and alleged violation.

Going to court is stressful, especially when you do not know what to expect, but I always trusted Liz. After almost two years of legal challenges, I am now divorced, have 50/50 custody of my children, retained my retirement, and do not pay child support.
